Tender Sprouts Announces New Year's Sale On Liquid Vitamin D

(Medical-NewsWire.com, January 05, 2015 ) Coral Springs, Florida -- When it comes to headlines in the universe of nutritional supplements, Vitamin D seems to be shining.

Well known for its role in supporting strong teeth and bones, recent scientific research and studies are revealing the role this vitamin plays in critical mind and body functions.

Whenever a supplement becomes newsworthy,  along with promotions for use come cautions and controversies.   Vitamin D holds no exception.  Cautions about using this supplement relate primarily to concerns about consuming extremely high doses and controversies seem to relate primarily to frequency and cost of medical testing for deficiency.

While experts may argue about dosage or testing, there are a few things that are known about Vitamin D that seem to be simple facts.

Vitamin D is unlike all other vitamins.  It is produced naturally in the body through exposure to UVB rays from the sun.  Whether due to increased testing or increased reports of symptoms leading to increased testing, undeniably, vitamin D deficiency is on the rise.  In some scientific communities, Vitamin D deficiency is currently recognized as a global epidemic not even sparing highly developed nations such as the United States.

Another fact about Vitamin D is that meeting minimum daily quotas through diet alone can be quite challenging for most people.  Milk may be the most well known source of dietary vitamin D but what most people don't know is that the vitamin D in milk has been added and is not naturally occurring.  Additionally, for those who have food allergies or avoid or limit consumption of fatty fish and mushrooms, meeting daily quotas of Vitamin D through diet alone is unlikely.

Concerns about Vitamin D deficiency within the medical community have resulted in the American Academy of Pediatrics strongly recommending a supplement of 400 IU vitamin D for all infants beginning in the first days of life. It is the one supplement all babies need, including and especially those who are being breastfed.

For many breastfeeding mothers, the idea of supplementing with anything is hard to swallow, let alone implement. After all, breastmilk is supposed to be the most complete nourishment a child can receive. However, most mothers are not living the lifestyles needed to produce adequate amounts of Vitamin D for themselves let alone enough to transmit to their babies through breastmilk. In a recent article, Dr. Robert Henley, a clinical endocrinologist specializing in nutrition, reports that nursing mothers who supplement with 5000 to 6000 IU of Vitamin D daily will produce breastmilk with enough vitamin D so that giving their infants a vitamin D supplement becomes unnecessary. Fifteen minutes of sun exposure can result in the body producing more than 10000 IU of vitamin D. Interestingly, The Vitamin D Council argues that supplementing daily with 5000 IU of Vitamin D mimics this natural production for individuals who are deficient, or at risk for deficiency. Dr. Henley's findings seem to further support the Vitamin D Council's recommended dose.

Anticipating the need for a high quality supplement for infants, their mothers, and entire families, Tender Sprouts has released D-Lightful Baby, Liquid Vitamin D drops for babies and their families. Eve Walker, a representative from Tender Sprouts, indicates the strength of D-Lightful Baby is 400 IU per drop. Ms. Walker further adds that this Vitamin D Supplement for infants can be used by all members of the infant's family with an adjusted dose. Parents are strongly encouraged to discuss use of all supplements and dosage with their child's health care provider. In celebration of the New Year, Tender Sprouts is running a sale on Liquid D3 For Baby.
