Prohoze Announces New Ways To Grow Organic Vegetables

(Medical-NewsWire.com, June 05, 2015 ) Los Angeles, California -- Stuart Johns, who is a company director of Prohoze and an avid organic vegetable grower, recently spoke of the health benefits and the ease of growing vegetables in one's garden, "All it requires is a little planning and some initial hard work. Then sit back, weed, water with a flexible hose (http://www.amazon.com/Expandable-Expanding-lightweight-expandable-retractable/dp/B00KZ7J7XE/) and enjoy the health giving qualities of freshly picked vegetables."

Organic veggies can be grown anywhere there is a space available. This can be in a garden or in a garden planter on a patio or balcony. The first step is to plan which vegetables need to be grown, how much space they need and how long they take to progress from seed to harvesting. Most veggies, apart from leafy ones such as spinach and lettuce, prefer sunlight, so plant the veggie garden in a frost free, wind free, sunny position.

Prepare the soil well and add organic compost to it, watering it in gently with an expandable hose. Make a plan of where the veggie plants are going to be planted, so that a three year rotation can be followed to ensure the soil isn't depleted of nutrients by planting the same vegetable in same place year after year. Put in stepping stones or a little pathway to avoid the plants being trampled on during watering, weeding and harvesting.

Planting seedlings requires making a hole in the soil twice the size of the roots of the seedling, putting organic compost into the hole and then planting the seedling, covering it with soil and gently watering it with the garden hose. When planting seeds, carefully read the instructions to find out how deep to plant them and how to space them correctly.

People with back problems should consider using raised beds or garden planters. Raised beds can be from one foot off the ground to waist height, which enables the gardener to garden without bending. Raised beds are contained within wooden structures and have no base, so the roots of the plants grow down into the soil.

Garden planters on the other hand are usually on pedestals and have a base. They do need a little more water than raised beds or garden vegetable beds, as the water drains off more quickly. Garden planters are perfect for small spaces such as balconies or little corners in the garden.
