According to CBS 12 News, West Palm Beach firefighters have seen a significant increase in the number of calls they've received in regards to incidents involving people high on flakka. Commonly when first responders arrive the persons high on flakka is often naked and delirious.
West Palm Beach fire officials say they are receiving at least one phone call related to flakka a day, at each station. "We were getting different names for it, the person on this and that. Now it's consistently Flakka, Flakka, Flakka," says Chief Brian Lamb. These calls are essentially putting the firefighters in great danger.According to Lamb practically every day Fire Station No. 5 in west Palm Beach receives a similar calls of distress induced by flakka and the problem seems to refuse to go away.
The calls received by fire stations usually consist of someone high on flakka is naked and behaving deliriously on a local street. "They are irrational, they're overheating, their body temperatures are extremely high," said Lamb. According to CBS 12 News, temperatures can reach as high as 109 degrees in flakka users. The bizarre behaviors exhibited by fakka users make it challenging for firefighters. According to Lamb it's tough and sometimes dangerous work for himself and his crew, especially when they arrive to chatic and bizarre scenes.
