Researchers Investigate The Fat-burning Effects Of Fish Oil

(Medical-NewsWire.com, July 08, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- Fish oil is one of the most popular dietary supplements today. It is widely used for a variety of health purposes, such as a natural remedy for the prevention of cardiovascular ailments. The good news is that for individuals who want to manage their weight, fish oil can potentially be helpful to them.

Researchers investigate the fat-burning effects of fish oil. This natural remedy has been widely-studied for the myriad of health benefits associated with its use. Recently, it has been investigated for its potential ability to help burn fat.

The University of South Australia's Peter Howe and his colleagues studied the effects of regular exercise and proper diet on the body. Surprisingly, they found out that diet, exercise and the use of fish oil supplements are a powerful fat-loss combination.

In the study, obese and overweight individuals with metabolic syndrome and were at a high risk of heart disease were made to take omega-3 fish oil. The intake was combined with moderate aerobic exercise three times a week for 12 weeks. It was found that the stored body fat, especially in the abdominal area, reduced among those who belonged to the fish-oil-plus-exercise group. However, those who exercised or took fish oil alone did not experience some changes.

According to the researchers, the potential reason behind the findings can be found in the anti-inflammatory benefits of EPA and the ability of DHA to sensitize insulin.

"Many researchers are still trying to investigate the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, especially among individuals who want to lose weight," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan

What makes the findings even more interesting is that the participants actually did not make any changes to their eating habits. It is believed that omega-3 fatty acids work by improving the blood flow to the muscles during exercise. This aids in the stimulation of enzymes, which helps transport fat to where it can be utilized for energy.

There is a wide range of fish oil supplements available nowadays. Omega-3s are also available as an additive to food and beverages. Further studies are being planned to determine the effects of omega-3 and exercise over a longer period.

For now, experts believe that it could be an effective natural weight loss supplement when it is combined with an exercise program. Dieters can consume fish that contains high levels of omega-3 fatty acids. They can also use fish oil supplements to have a daily dose of omega-3s (http://amazon.com/Omega-Fish-Oil-Supplement-Softgels/dp/B00O8NS20K/).
