Avandia Heart Attack, Stroke Risk Prompts Restrictions on Usage, Warns Class Action.org

(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 06, 2011 ) New York, NY – Class Action.org has updated its Avandia alert page to include information on the new Avandia restrictions, which were issued by the FDA in Sept. 2010. Rather than issue an Avandia recall, the FDA has decided to limit the use of Avandia to patients with Type 2 diabetes who were unable to manage their disease with other medicines. Furthermore, the FDA is requiring that these patients be fully informed of Avandia heart risks, which may include heart attack and stroke. To learn more about these new Avandia restrictions, visit http://www.classaction.org/avandia.html today. Patients who have suffered from cardiac Avandia side effects can also receive a free legal consultation on the site by completing the case evaluation form.

In May 2007, the New England Journal of Medicine published a study which indicated that Avandia may significantly increase a patientÂ’s risk of heart attack or cardiac death, particularly in those with a history of heart disease or heart attack risk factors. In an analysis of more than 27,000 patients and 40 studies, researchers found a 43% increase in heart attacks in patients taking Avandia when compared to those not taking the drug. Shortly after this report was released, the FDA issued a safety alert discussing the potential Avandia heart attack risk highlighted in the study, and advised Avandia patients, particularly those with underlying heart disease or risk factors for heart attacks, to speak with their doctors about this new information.

If you or a loved one has suffered a heart attack, stroke or other Avandia side effect, you may be able to participate in an Avandia lawsuit to recover compensation. Visit Class Action.org today and complete the free case evaluation form to find out if youÂ’re eligible. The Avandia lawyers working with Class Action.org are offering this legal consultation at no cost and remain dedicated to protecting the rights of patients who have suffered an Avandia heart attack or other side effects.
