Respondents to this survey were Chief Intellectual Property Officers, Licensing Professionals, Business Development Professions, Chief Financial Officers, Technologists, Presidents, CEOs, General Counselors, and Outside Counselors. Among the preliminary results are:• 88.9% of respondents indicated that their firms would benefit from creating the position of Chief Intellectual Property Officer.• 44% of respondents believe that the most relevant experience for a CIPO is a legal background. • 44% of respondents believe that the most relevant experience for a CIPO is a business development background.• 77.8% of respondents stated that the CIPO should report to the CEO.
