The blog can be so much more than just a commentary on the daily life, essentially they can be one of three types, and dependant on the chosen one, it will give the blog its focus. The three different types of blogs are:
A personal blog.
This is really a daily diary, and whilst this may be interesting as an insight into the daily life, itÂ’s probably not going to make much money because the readers are not going to expect to be sold. ItÂ’s a bit like a salesman cold calling at the house, 99.9% of the time they're they're not going to buy anything because they're not in a buyers mindset. In fact they just get annoyed and shut the door; similarly the readers will click away too.
A business blog.
The difference here is that when the readers read about a company, they are expecting to be sold to, because they want to know about the business and what it is.. They may have even searched for the blog, looking for specific information or products.
An information/ Problem/Solution blog.
These blogs are great to run, remember in the previous post it was mentioned that people love stories, well a good story that starts with a problem and ends with the solution have huge appeal, and guess what theyÂ’re easy to make money with too. Especially if they offer some education, are entertaining and engaging to read. Of course the solution to the problem in the story is what is being sold.
If the writer understands the purpose of the blog before sitting down to write it, the writer know what itÂ’s for and be able to focus on the articles.
Assuming the writer read about Keywords, If not the links for Coffee Kicks link is at the bottom. Now decide what the blog is for and the type of blog to to write, based on the above.
Now letÂ’s think about getting the new blog live onto the internet.
Domain names and Hosting.
Something else to think about is the method to launch the blog. Either use the “Free Method,” or “Pro method.”
Free Method
Quite obviously itÂ’s not going to cost money to set up, and can have a blog ready to write to in minutes.
First choose the blogging platform, and thereÂ’s a few to use. For example Blogger and WordPress. a Google search will reveal more but those two are the most popular. Sign up and give the blog its name and it is ready to go. Doing it this way, the blogs internet address, or URL, will be a sub domain of the platform chosen, so it would look something likeÂ…

That is if using WordPress. There is a downside to this method, and itÂ’s a biggie. Most people donÂ’t realise this, but if using this method WordPress will own all of the content, and if they donÂ’t like it, can shut the blog down.
Pro Method.
The writer owns all of the content and he or she can write what they like. This is by far the best way to do it. Still use one of the blogging platforms but the writer is just going to use their software and not their servers.
To do this the blogger need to register a Domain Name, with a domain registrar; it cost less than £10 to do this. Then rent hosting space on a hosting company’s server and upload the blogging platform and domain name to it, it’s very simple and there are step by step guides to help. The blogger also can get a dedicated email address to for a real professional finish. Now the URL will look something like this…
www.blogname.com
This is by far the best way to do it, especially if aiming to make some money.
So for now, think of a catchy domain name, register it then find your hosting company. Most domain registrars will offer hosting too to simplify things.
