 (EMAILWIRE.COM, November 12, 2011 ) New York, NY - Boardwalk Empire is HBOÂ’s Sunday night drama, reminiscent of the good old days when Sopranos was still on air, this new drama centers around power and violence. Already well into the second season, Boardwalk Empire Season 1 has just been slated for DVD release at the start of the upcoming year. The official Boardwalk Empire Season 1 release date is set for January 10, 2012.
The show was inspired by Nelson JohnsonÂ’s book about Atlantic City in the 1920Â’s during the Prohibition. It combines real historic characters as well as factual ones to tell a story about Enoch Thompson, who is the city treasurer making boatloads of illegal cash on smuggled booze during the ban. Boardwalk Empire on HBO is written by Sopranos writer Terence Winter, co-produced by Martin Scorsese and has an all-star cast including Steve Buscemi, Michael Pitt, and Kelly Macdonald.
In the Boardwalk Empire Season 1 DVD set, fans will enjoy never before seen features about the show.
