'Debbie Loves Dallas' in Blu-ray

(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 17, 2007 ) LOS ANGELES – The newest version of the pop culture adult classic "Debbie Does Dallas" – an "alternative" adaptation called "Debbie Loves Dallas" from Vivid-Alt director Eon McKai – is now available in the Blu-ray high-definition format. The first copies of the Blu-ray Discs will be shipped to stores October 17th and be available to consumers on Wednesday, October 24th. "I'm really proud to be part of the Blu-ray push in adult films, particularly since 'Debbie Loves Dallas' has the production value and sound quality to really show off this format," said Eon McKai, head of Vivid-Alt as well as director of the film. "As soon as I saw the Blu-ray version I realized that DLD was made to be enjoyed in hi-def. Getting the disc licensed and stamped by AACS insures that people with the PS3 and other advanced players will have no trouble playing DLD." David Peskin, Vivid's national sales director, said, "We have been receiving consistent reorders for the standard 'Debbie Loves Dallas' DVD, which has been honored with some amazing reviews. Not often does an adult title receive so much mainstream publicity. It is well deserved for this movie, which was teased in the seven-part reality series "Debbie Does Dallas...Again" on Showtime. DLD was encoded using the advanced VC-1 codec, is full 1080p resolution and was actually shot in HD for the purest high-definition experience." To help build awareness of the Blu-ray version, XCritic has launched a contest called "Vivid ALTer: Debbie Loves Dallas Blu-ray Giveaway." Visitors to the XCritic website can download art from the "Debbie Loves Dallas" DVD box cover and use their own imaginations to give it an alternative graphic twist. Entries can be posted in the XCritic Forum on the www.xcritic.com site. Dana DeArmond, one of the film's stars, will pick the five winners, who will receive a Blu-ray Disc signed by McKai and DeArmond. The contest starts October 16th and runs for one week.Mike Barry, director of business development for Adult DVD Empire, said, "From the first moment we heard that high-definition technology was coming to adult movies, our company wanted to make sure that its customers had the best possible service and most knowledge about the new formats. We began with our mainstream division, and continued a high level of support on adult as soon as titles began releasing. Vivid, being one of the more forward thinking studios in the industry, has naturally embraced the high-definition formats. Now, with the release of 'Debbie Loves Dallas' on Blu-ray we begin to see the potential this format has to offer adult movie fans."The campy alt version of the film tells the story of two groups of girls -- one group headed by "Debbie" (played by Vivid Girl Cassidey) and the other by "Bambi" (played by Vivid-Alt actress Charlotte Stokely), in an homage to Bambi Woods, who played Debbie in the 1970s original. Powered by a script laced with pop culture references, the groups compete to see who can sleep with "Punky," leader of the band Dallas. In addition to Ms. Stokely and Ms. DeArmond, "Debbie Loves Dallas" stars Vivid Girl Monique Alexander. About Vivid:The Vivid Entertainment Group is the world's leading adult film company.
