In the men’s division, the winner (Marilson Gomes dos Santos of Brazil) beat the second place finisher (Stephen Kiogora of Kenya) by eight seconds. The winner finished the race four-tenths of a percentage faster than the second fastest runner. The winner was 1.3% faster than the fifth place contender and the winner was 3.4% faster than the eleventh place runner.In the women’s division, the winner (Jelena Prokopcuka of Latvia) beat the second place finisher (Tatiana Hladyr of the Ukraine) by exactly one minute. The winner finished the marathon seven-tenths of a percentage faster than the second fastest runner.
