Minority and Women Owned Businesses In The Construction Industry Doing Business In Lower Manhattan

(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 27, 2007 ) FREE ONE-DAY SEMINAR, SEPTEMBER 5, Borough of Manhattan Community College A free one-day seminar for minority and women owned business leaders who are interested in learning how to do business in Lower Manhattan will be held on Wednesday, September 5, at the Borough of Manhattan Community College ­ Tribeca Performing Arts Center, 199 Chambers Street, in Lower Manhattan.Registration and Breakfast will convene at 8:00 a.m. The program and networking events will be held from 9:00 a.m. ­ 5:00 p.m. During the morning session, New York State Lieutenant Governor David A.Paterson will announce a new state initiative that will be signed during the event. The new program is designed to create greater access for minority and women owned businesses to state government agencies and authorities in the rebuilding efforts now underway in Lower Manhattan. In addition to the Lt. Governorıs speech, a high level session with Surety Industry leaders on bonding requirements and surety underwriting criteria will take place. A highlight of the morningıs festivities will be the signing of the ³Memorandum of Understanding² between the Lt. Governor and leaders of the Bonding and Surety industry to establish a pilot bonding program for New York State Certified Minority and Women Owned Businesses.Attendees will also be able to gain information on what resources are available under the LMCCC/MWBE program, which is funded by HUD. Senior executives from banking and financial service industries have been invited.Many of the cityıs major construction management firms, as well as executives from key New York State government agencies and authorities who are actively involved in the rebuilding effort of Lower Manhattan, will also be available to meet with participants. During the afternoon session, many of the prime contractors, stakeholders and agency executives involved in Lower Manhattan rebuilding efforts will participate in a networking forum. One-on-one sessions will also be available. Advance registration for this free event one-day event, on September 5 is required, by August 31.
