(Medical-NewsWire.com, October 19, 2012 ) Shepards town, WV -- With a looming election just around the corner in the United States, it seems that everywhere people turn the talk is all about the economy and jobs. There is no doubt that with 23 million Americans out of work it has become big news, but there is a bright spot on the career horizon for those people thinking of entering a career in the healthcare field, particularly as a nurse or nurse practitioner.
While many people struggle just to find work right now, nurses are in very high demand, and it just keeps rising, and along with that demand are rising salaries.
According to the informational website A1nursing.com, in 2010, the average registered nurse salary working in the United States was $64, 690 a year, which equated to about $32 an hour. According to data on Payscale.com, a registered nurse with less than one year of experience will see an average salary of about $30,105 to $63,105, and a nurse with a number of years of experience can expect to see a salary in the range of $42,023 to $91,116.
A1nursing.com reports that a nurse practitioner salary will jump even further, and practitioners can expect an even larger jump in pay. Payscale.com reports that the lowest average salary reported for a nurse practitioner is $57,084 and the highest is $115,707, based on experience.
“These salaries are remarkable by any measurement, but particularly in today’s difficult economic climate,” said the creator of A1nursing.com. “Many people are out of work and searching for jobs that will pay enough to support their families, but they’re ignoring the training programs that would allow them to enter a career in healthcare, particularly nursing, and that’s really where the jobs of the future lie.”
The website creator credits the rise in healthcare jobs with the aging population here in the United States.
“We’re seeing the baby boomer generation rise in age, and that’s creating a huge demand for healthcare jobs, and I don’t think we’re going to see that decline anytime in the foreseeable future,” said the site creator. “It’s time that in order to reduce the unemployment, and replace the low paying and part time jobs, that people begin to look toward the training programs that will prepare them for a career in healthcare, and particularly in nursing.”
The site creator says the demand isn’t just coming from the aging population, although that is a huge factor in the demand for nurses across the country. The creator says there is also a big demand for careers such as a neonatal nurse .
“Yes it’s true that a lot of the demand for these careers comes from the aging population, but there are other factors at play that make nursing a great career option, and we see that it’s a career that will boom for years to come, because of the demand across all areas of the industry, from neonatal to physical therapy,” said the site creator.
