Study shows Curcumin and Vitamin C Supplements Prevent Kidney Toxicity Reports T33

(Medical-NewsWire.com, November 13, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- A study from the Biological Trace Element Research institute suggests that vitamin C or curcumin supplement can assist in reducing kidney injury that is caused by fluoride.

Nabavi SF of National Elites Foundation of Iran in Tehran, Iran led the study. They showed that daily exposure to 600 ppm sodium fluoride for as little as one week can cause renal injury in rats.

Showings exposed that intraperitoneal administration of curcumin of 10 and 20 mg/kg of body weight for the same time period significantly reduced oxidative stress and toxicity experienced via fluoride.

One week after treatments with fluoride and curcumin were dealt, researchers measured “lipid peroxidation level, activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase, and level of glutathione in kidney homogenate” and creatinine, serum urea, and blood urea nitrogen levels in blood samples.

Another group received vitamin C at 10mg/kg as a standard antioxidant.

Both groups normalized levels of the three measured groups. The antioxidant enzyme decreased and lipid peroxidation levels were kept prevented or balanced respectively.

The researchers thus concluded that “curcumin treatment at the doses of 10 and 20mg/kg showed significant nephroprotective effects.”

Another study by Pharmaceutical Biology noted that administration of lycopene at half the dose of curcumin provided similar benefits. The study, conducted by Heba H Mansour of the National Center for Radiation Research and Technology, Atomic Energy Authority in Cairo, Egypt authored the work.

Both vitamin C and curcumin supplements appear to thus be critically important in order to prevent kidney damage brought on by toxicity as a result of fluoride, as well as radiation from nuclear disaster or medical treatment.

Many food consumers want fluoride out of drinking water utilize reverse osmosis water filters. Ordinary filters are incapable of removing fluoride. Other types of filters can be use to remove unwanted items like aluminum nanomaterial.
