(Medical-NewsWire.com, June 17, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- The signs around Ravensthorpe roads are very clear and hard to misinterpret, but drivers seem to have no problem ignoring the traffic signals.
Resident Les Robertson has had enough of drivers blatantly ignoring traffic signs and violating the rules of the road and has challenged both the city council and local police to take action against those who continue to ignore the road signs and continue down ‘no entry’ lanes.
Robertson, 54, who lives on Garden Street near a one way road with clear ‘no entry’ sign for oncoming traffic, said: “It happens all throughout the day. Even taxi drivers are doing it.”
The new traffic signs were meant to stop people turning into Garden Street from Myrtle Road, a narrow street that doesn’t allow for two lanes of cars to fit through with adequate space.
A council spokesman said of the change that there was concern about parents parking at the junction on top of a long history of complaints about people using Garden Street as a shortcut to North Road and, in doing, so putting the pupils who walk to and from Ravensthorpe Junior High School at risk.”
Temporary signs were originally put in place before permanent signs were added. Last week, those permanent signs were put up, but vehicles still continue to violate the rules. Robertson is upset, saying ‘they’ve spent all that money [on signs and street paint] and they can’t enforce anything.
The council said they will be doing a follow-up survey to see if better changes will occur over time.
