(Medical-NewsWire.com, July 08, 2013 ) Denver, CO -- Christopher Entwistle was found guilty of theft after stealing a notepad and refusing to leave a doctor's surgery.
The defendant failed to attend court and the case continued in his absence. A warrant was issued for his arrest following his failure to appear.
Magistrates were informed of Entwistle's appointment with Dr. Hussein Aboud at the Marsden House General Practice facility in Bolton earlier this year. Dr. Aboud told the court that his consultation “did not go very well” and that Entwistle refused to leave the room when instructed to do so.
He added: “At that stage I asked the receptionist to call the police for him to be removed.“ Dr Aboud was the only doctor in the surgery during the altercation. He also had other patients waiting to be seen and could not afford the time for Entwistle, so he went to see them in a different consultation room, leaving Entwistle on his own.
He added: “I went back about 15 minutes later and he was still sitting in the same place, but I noticed he was shoving something into his pocket.
“It was a certificate of fitness to work, there were about 15 or 20 pages in it. I leave these in my drawer in my desk and he had got them out.”
The doctor asked Entwistle what he was trying to do, keeping his hand over his hand covering the pad. He noted to the court that he did not seek a physical confrontation, so he took the other pads he possessed and left the room. Entwistle then left with pad in hand before police finally arrested him.
Magistrates found Entwistle guilty despite his absence, and the warrant was issued, holding no option for bail.
