(Medical-NewsWire.com, July 31, 2013 ) Manor TX -- Police arrested two people; Samuel Teplick, 21 and Candice Kazmarzyk, 18, and seized a large amount of drugs in Salt Lake City, Utah on Monday. The location of the drug house was somewhat odd as it was right across the street from Odyssey House; one of Utah’s most recognized and oldest drug rehab centers. The couple may also face stiff penalties since the house was also located within 1,000 feet of a chapel owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a Catholic church.
A large amount of drugs were packaged and ready for sale at the location including several pain pills, marijuana and ecstasy tablets, according to court documents. Cindy Larson, who has lived in the neighborhood for 36 years and Knew her next-door neighbors, was dumbfounded. “And all of a sudden I just noticed Sam and his girlfriend and Zack–they hauled them out of the house and handcuffed them, and I thought: ‘What the heck’s going on?’” she alleged.
“We served a search warrant at that residence and discovered a fairly large amount of drugs and money,” said Det. Cody Lougy. Lougy is a detective at the Salt Lake City Police Department and found the evidence during their search. Odyssey House clinical director Kayleen Davidson said, “Yeah, it’s really difficult to see that because, of course, we’re working with these kinds of people every day.” Patients and staff at the rehab recognized the activity around the home as being typical of drug traffic and notified the police. “We just hope that these people that were taken in can find recovery, and we’d be happy to help them,” Davidson said. Kazmarzyk and Teplick are presently incarcerated and face multiple drug distribution and possession charges.
