(Medical-NewsWire.com, September 17, 2013 ) Missoula, Montana -- Fitter Den™ maker of Bear Bands™ resistance bands set is a sponsor of the Breaking Down The Walls Chiari Malformation Virtual Run.
The virtual run is open to residents all over the United States, with participants ranging from youngsters on up to adults.
Benefiting "Conquer Chiari" this run will bring awareness to and help address the issues of the brain disease, Chiari Malformation. Chiari Malformation is a serious neurological disorder affecting the brain and spinal cord. With Chiari Malformation, the bottom part of the brain, the portion known as the cerebellum, descends out of the skull, and crowds the spinal column causing numerous physiological and medical issues.
The virtual run event is hosted by Tara Funair of Palm Harbor, Florida, who was inspired by her best friend's 7 year old daughter who was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation at the age of four months. The child recently underwent surgery for the disease in August of 2013.
Funair is excited about hosting her first event, stating "All proceeds from the run, minus the medals on order, will go directly to Conquer Chiari." She has set up a Facebook page for the Breaking Down The Walls event.
Theresa Whiteside, President of Fitter Den™ is happy to help out with the fundraiser, noting "When we saw the request for sponsors, we were only too happy to help. Chiari Malformation is not a well-known condition, but it can wreak havoc on the lives of not only the patient, but the family as well." Whiteside encourages everyone to help out, whether by participating in the virtual run, or by donating to the Breaking Down The Walls event.
