Six Medical Symptoms Never To Ignore By Inkelaar Law

(Medical-NewsWire.com, October 15, 2013 ) OMAHA, NEB. – At some point in a person’s life they will usually experience some type of symptom that is unusual. For the most part, many symptoms will turn out to be non-serious, such as headaches stemming from stress, lack of sleep, caffeine withdrawal, dehydration, or eye strain.

However, there are certain symptoms that should not be ignored, and may need immediate medical attention by dialing 9-1-1, as it could save your life. The six medical symptoms not to ignore include:

1.) Asthma symptoms that don’t change – These symptoms include wheezing or difficulty breathing. If these symptoms go untreated they may lead to severe chest muscle fatigue and eventually death. Often times, those who suffer from asthma will not go to the emergency room because they have gone so many times before, however they may need higher doses of inhalants or other medications to assist in moving air in and out of the lungs.

2.) Blood in the urine – Even if there is no pain during urination, and there is blood in the urine, it is recommended to call your doctor immediately. This could be a result of kidney stones, a prostate or bladder infection. It could also lead to worse, cancer of the bladder, kidney, prostate, or ureter.

3.) Chest pain or discomfort – This pain may also appear in the arm, jaw, or neck, and result in cold sweat, extreme weakness, vomiting, nausea, faint feeling, or shortness of breath. If you experience any or all of these symptoms call 9-1-1 immediately as they are signs of a heart attack. It is also recommended to chew one regular aspirin to assist in preventing damage to the heart muscles during the heart attack.

4.) Depression and suicidal thoughts – Depression is a very serious problem that many Americans are living with. Often times, this may lead to the feeling of suicide if individuals fail to get the attention they require. Symptoms may include fatigue, anxiety, and loss of appetite, sadness, apathy, and changes in sleep habits. If you have feelings of suicide, call 800-SUICIDE or 800-273-TALK at any time.

5.) Pain and tenderness in the back of your lower legs – This pain may also occur in the chest, cause shortness of breath, or coughing up blood. Any of these symptoms could be a sign that you have blood clots in your legs, especially if they occur after sitting a while. If you have chest pain or are coughing up blood, this could be a sign that the clot has broken off and traveled through your blood stream, this can be life threatening and you should call 9-1-1 and go to the emergency room immediately.

6.) Paralysis of the arms or legs – This may appear as numbness, dizziness, slurred speech, weakness, tingling, confusion, double vision, trouble finding words, or the loss of movement on one side of the face or body. If you have any or all of these symptoms, call 9-1-1 because they are all symptoms of a stroke. This is caused when the arteries carrying blood to the brain become clogged or rupture, which cause the brain tissue to die.

With all of these cases timing is everything, the sooner a person goes to the emergency room or receives treatment, the greater likelihood they will have to survive with fewer injuries.
