No Sufficient Evidence Proves Vegetarian Glucosamine Is Better Than That From Shellfish

(Medical-NewsWire.com, August 22, 2014 ) Portland, Oregon -- Arthritic conditions have been considered as the cause of the escalating rate of disability among many individuals especially those who are over 25 years old. One natural alternative that is extremely popular among arthritis sufferers is the glucosamine supplement.

Glucosamine is typically extracted from the shells of shellfish, but there are also vegetarian versions of it available in the market. In recent times, there have been unfounded beliefs that vegetarian glucosamine works better than that obtained from shellfish. This has caused some non-vegetarian sufferers to turn to using vegetarian glucosamine in their attempt to achieve pain relief.

The dosages of the animal-based glucosamine are similar to those for the vegetarian versions. According to the National Institutes of Health, there has not been any sufficient evidence to show that vegetarian glucosamine works better than that from shellfish.

Surveys have also been conducted to see whether users of vegetarian glucosamine have benefited more than those who use the animal-derived version. It was found that there was no difference in terms of the level of pain relief experienced by sufferers who used vegetarian and animal-derived glucosamine supplements separately.

"Many scientific trials have already supported the therapeutic benefits offered by glucosamine, and a majority of them refer to glucosamine made from shellfish," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan. "While the vegetarian form of glucosamine is a wonderful option for vegans, vegetarians and those who suffer from allergies, it is often an unnecessary added expense for those who don't have special dietary requirements."

Scientists believe that glucosamine from shellfish may also have many other health benefits aside from providing joint pain relief. According to a study conducted in The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre in the United States, glucosamine made from shellfish can potentially protect humans against many common health issues.

VitaBreeze produces one of the most powerful animal-derived glucosamine supplements available on Amazon.com. The product contains not only glucosamine, but also turmeric, chondroitin, and MSM. These powerful ingredients have therapeutic compounds that can help sufferers of joint pain achieve relief and possibly regain their joint health.
