While there are patients who do not experience symptoms, many suffer from heavy menstrual periods, pain during sex, and abdominal pain.
Recent research revealed that turmeric could have the potential to prevent and manage endometriosis. While there is yet to be any human trials, animal studies and culture tests have produced promising results. Turmeric contains an active ingredient known as curcumin that was used in the tests and is believed to have the healing power to reduce inflammation in the endometrial lesions. This is believed to result in the delay in the progression of endometriosis.

According to one study published in the Indian Journal of Biochemistry and Biophysics, curcumin can significantly reduce the inflammation caused by endometriosis. Curcumin has low bioavailability, meaning it is difficult for the body to absorb naturally. Health experts recommend curcumin supplements that contain a black pepper extract called BioPerine.
