According to statistics released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the prevalence of juvenile arthritis is increasing. A 2007 study by the CDC estimated that there are around 294,000 children in the United States under 18 years of age who are suffering from arthritis and other rheumatic conditions. This significantly higher than a 2004 estimate from National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) data, which reported an average of 80,100 cases.

What makes the condition even more alarming is that it can potentially cause growth problems and eye inflammation.
According to health professionals, patients with juvenile arthritis should try to remain physically active to strengthen their joints and muscles. It is also recommended that children maintain a healthy weight to avoid putting excess strain on the joints. Physicians usually prescribe pharmaceutical drugs to reduce swelling and pain, as well as maintain joint movement.
