An Increasing Number Of Arthritis Patients Practice Flexibility Exercises For Pain Relief

(Medical-NewsWire.com, February 06, 2015 ) Portland, Oregon -- There are many things that arthritis patients can do in order to manage their joint pain. While some of the most common treatments include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or joint replacement surgery, a natural remedy that has been growing in popularity is performing flexibility exercises.

An increasing number of arthritis patients practice flexibility exercises to achieve pain relief. According to experts, exercises are not just extremely useful in staying active and healthy, but also in obtaining relief from symptoms caused by arthritis.

The American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine created workout movements or exercises that are ideal for arthritis management. These exercises are easy to follow and proven safe for arthritis patients. However, experts also recommend that patients should warm-up properly first to avoid injury. A warm-up can be as simple as walking for at least five minutes to increase one's heart rate.

"Many arthritis patients may find doing exercises extremely difficult or even impossible. However, these workout movements are designed for arthritis management and even though they are very low-impact exercises, they can truly help individuals find relief from pain," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan.

There are several exercises that are highly recommended for arthritis. Among these exercises are the elongation stretch, elongation diagonal, shoulder stretch, knee chest stretch, Achilles stretch, quad stretch, hamstring stretch, squat and side lift, knee flexion, knee extension and calf raises. Experts suggest that individuals should make any of these exercises a part of their daily routine.

According to studies, many of the arthritis patients who are practicing these exercises have reduced their risk of the conditions associated with inactivity. They were able to manage their weight as well as the symptoms of arthritis. They believe that it is imperative for patients to keep active and do all the steps needed to reduce pressure in the joints.

"Doing these exercise activities can be fun too. Arthritis sufferers can do these workouts with family and friends. It is a fun and healthy way to bond with others," added O'Sullivan.

There are many other remedies that arthritis patients turn to, and among them is the use of curcumin supplements. Curcumin is the active ingredient of an ancient, medicinal spice known as turmeric. Curcumin supplements are believed to have high levels of therapeutic properties that can significantly help provide pain relief and improve joint health. Exercise and using curcumin supplements can be a great way to naturally manage arthritis (www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI).
