Research Suggests Turmeric And Bioperine May Be The Ideal Combination For Pain Relief

(Medical-NewsWire.com, February 23, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- Turmeric has long been used in ancient East Indian medicine as a remedy for a wide variety of health complaints. Today, it is still popular among those suffering from joint pain. However, the ancient spice is notoriously known for its poor bioavailability in the human body.

New studies now reveal that BioPerine may be the key to dramatically improving absorption of turmeric, thus boosting any potential pain relief abilities. BioPerine is a type of black pepper extract that is believed to increase the bioavailability of nutrients, including curcumin. Curcumin is an active ingredient found within turmeric and is believed to be the source of several therapeutic properties.

"Many arthritis patients use turmeric as a main ingredient in their dishes, hoping to gain the benefits of consuming the spice. However, since turmeric has low bioavailability, only low levels of its therapeutic properties are being absorbed in the body. This is why the use of BioPerine could be useful in increasing nutrient absorption," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan.

There are many supplements already on the market that contain curcumin in a convenient capsule form. However, some experts warn against those that do not contain an agent such as BioPerine to increase absorption. Many suggest that BioPerine can make curcumin more bioavailable and can inhibit the digestive enzymes in the intestine.

"Health experts also believe that individuals who are suffering from certain medical conditions that cause nutrient malabsorption could benefit from using BioPerine," added O'Sullivan.

The Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine published an article that revealed the increased absorption effects of BioPerine usually takes place in the intestine. This absorption of nutrients is also known as "bio-enhancement" and it pertains to BioPerine's capacity to allow the human body to absorb more nutrients including but not limited to selenium, beta-carotene, vitamin A, coenzyme Q, and vitamin C (http://www.amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI).
