The said review has also been voted "Helpful" by 27 out of the 28 other Amazon customers.
According to MJ, he thinks that most buyers are unsatisfied with ChiliPad because of their false expectations. He said, "I think most of the persons reviewing the chilipad has [sic] no idea of the how the product works or thought they were purchasing an air conditioning unit for their bed." MJ then goes on to explain that ChiliPad is a heat exchanger, and not an air-conditioner.
MJ understands that ChiliPad works like the radiator of a car. In it, air flows through the coils to cool the fluid, which in turn cools the car engine. "The same goes for Chilipad and a heat exchanger becomes more effective the cooler the ambient air is," he further explained.
The mattress pad of ChiliPad has soft in-bed silicone coils wherein water flows from the control unit (Cube). The control unit controls the temperature of the water based on the preference of the user. The room temperature also affects how much ChiliPad would cool or heat. In the example given by MJ, he said, "My ambient room temp during the summer is 71 degrees and I set my Chilipad at 68 degrees and I sleep comfortable and do not wake up hot. In the winter, my heater is set at 68 degrees at night and I had to bump up my Chilipad temp to 70 degrees. If I leave the Chilipad on 68 I would wake up cold."
MJ and Felicia V., another ChiliPad user, think that it is important for ChiliPad to be able explain how the product actually works, and for the buyers to clearly understand the concept of having a heat exchanger on the bed.
