Vietnam Vet Gets Help With Cancer Recovery From The Physical Therapy Community

(Medical-NewsWire.com, March 28, 2015 ) Los Angeles, CA -- Combat veteran, Robbie Robinson, served in Vietnam for two years from 1966 through 1967. He was a machine-gunner, carrying the M60 machine-gun, in "G" Company, Weapons Platoon, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, United States Marine Corps.

He received two purple hearts for wounds sustained in battle, and still carries the shrapnel. His unit was twice decorated for heroism in battle.
In Vietnam, Robbie and many other troops were repeatedly exposed to the caustic chemical Agent Orange, the military's defoliant of choice for clearing out the jungle. Later it was determined that this chemical left them open to cancer, diabetes, and a number of other diseases.

The Agent Orange that permeated Robbie's body would return to trouble him many years later, long after he married and had a son. In 1998 at the age of 51, Robbie contracted cancer of the lymph nodes caused by Agent Orange. He fought it into remission with intense chemotherapy and for almost 11 years was cancer free.

In 2003 is wife of 30 years got breast cancer and fought it for 8 long years before passing away in 2011. In 2008 Robbie's cancer returned and was again beaten into remission by massive chemotherapy treatments. Robbie provided constant care to his wife during her illness, and combined with his second episode of cancer their finances were decimated. To make matters worse, Robbie's cancer came back again in 2012 and was beaten back with radiation.

In the summer of 2014, Robbie's cancer returned once again and required another round of chemotherapy. His new wife of only 3 months at the time was determined to help him with a GoFundMe Campaign to raise the funds necessary to make immediate and massive upgrades to Robbie's environment that had seriously degraded over the previous decade. With help from the community through the GoFundMe campaign, she was been able to keep him on a 100% organic diet, and to purchase expensive supplements to help support his immune system that the chemotherapy would destroy.

Despite her best efforts, Robbie contracted a life threatening pneumonia caused by his immune system's compromise from chemotherapy. He spent 6 days in the hospital receiving massive doses of antibiotics. His oncologist determined that at 68 years old, and after 2-1/2 rounds of chemotherapy in one lifetime, Robbie was no longer able to receive this form of cancer treatment.

Robbie must now seek alternative forms of treatment not covered by insurance. The fundraising goal was originally set to include this follow-up.

Robbie's GoFundMe Campaign made it about half way to the goal in 6 months and, other than the pneumonia, helped Robbie to stay relatively healthy and comfortable during his treatments. To revive the campaign so that Robbie can get a full battery of stem cell treatments, the family's good friend came to the rescue.

Tom Dalonzo-Baker made his Total Motion Release associates aware of Robbie's situation by directing them to his GoFundMe Campaign. Tom generously offered them books and free seminars in return for donations to Robbie's campaign. Tom has helped to raise over $5,000 for Robbie to date and continues to reach out to his group for additional funding. The family is extremely grateful for Tom's generous support.

About Robbie's GoFundMe Campaign

Robbie's GoFundMe Campaign was created to help raise funds to upgrade his quality of life that would see him through a fourth battle with cancer successfully, and then to follow-up with massive stem cell treatments to prevent any recurrence.
