Health Care Providers Featured 10 Symptoms That Arthritis Patients Should Not Ignore

(Medical-NewsWire.com, May 12, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- Arthritis patients are almost always susceptible to symptoms such as pain and discomfort. Albeit there are symptoms that do not require treatments, there are also those that should not be taken for granted by patients.

Health care providers featured 10 symptoms that arthritis patients should not ignore. There are minor medical problems that are considered less serious, but are dangerous for arthritis patients. One symptom includes shedding pounds without trying to lose weight.

"Many arthritis patients are used to symptoms such as pain. They know exactly when to call their healthcare provider about it or not. However, when they experience something different, they should not take it for granted," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan.

According to The Arthritis Foundation, there are 10 symptoms that patients should not ignore such as an increase in fatigue, easy bruising, persistent sadness or hopelessness, Achilles pain and blood in stool. They should also be wary about experiencing chest pain, unexplained weight change, change in the appearance of a mole, painful urination and shortness of breath.

Paul Howard, M.D., Scottsdale, AZ rheumatologist, believes that although an increase in fatigue may be one of the body's ways to tell people to slow down and get more rest, individuals need to talk to their rheumatologist and discuss the matter. This is especially true if it is severe, happens frequently or lasts more than a week.

Easy bruising can potentially be a result of low platelet count, which is often caused by disorders such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Patients should ensure that they speak with their doctor about this.

Daniel Clauw, M.D., University of Michigan Health System's director of the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center, stated that it is normal for individuals to pant a bit if they come from a sedentary lifestyle and start an exercise program. However, if there is no apparent cause of shortness of breath, patients should see their doctor right away.

Other symptoms include painful urination, especially when accompanied with a fever. Patients should also seek medical help if they notice a change in the appearance of a mole. These are just a few of the symptoms that patients should not take for granted.

Arthritic conditions can cause quite a number of symptoms, and pain is the most common. Sufferers who want to reduce their pain often resort to natural alternatives in addition to drugs. There are even those who rely solely on natural alternatives such as glucosamine supplements (http://amazon.com/Glucosamine-Sulfate-Chondroitin-Supplement-Turmeric/dp/B00DUMO9X4/).
