(Medical-NewsWire.com, August 17, 2015 ) Florida -- According to Inquisitr, an off duty detective from the Charlotte County Sheriff's Department in Florida is making national headlines after he discovered an immense stash of cocaine while fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.
The deputy, who's name has not been released, caught more than just fish during his trip, his discovery ended up being a stash of cocaine worth millions. It has been reported that the deputy found the cocaine during his fishing trip approximately 25 miles off Englewood Beach. Imeediately after discovering the package, the deputy contacted another deputy, who notified the U.S. Border Patrol of the discovery.
Ralph Allen, recently revealed that he to was also fishing in that same area around the time the deputy discovered the drugs. According to reports from Review Journal, Allen admits that the massive potential payout is perplexing, however based off of the product being moved by water, it's difficult to determine the intended destination. "It could have just as easily been me. Or one our boats. Anything that floats can get carried forever. You've all heard about message in a bottle. Makes it clear across the ocean and shows up years later. Same thing applies to anything that floats," said Allen.
According to Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell estimates the cocaine totaled to 25 bricks, reportedly weighing over 50 pounds and has an estimated street value of approximately $12 million. Nonetheless, information about the package of cocaine remains unclear. The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the case in hopes of figuring out where the package came from and who may have been expecting the package to arrive.
