The Journal of Neuroscience Research published a study in March 2004 that revealed curcumin has the ability to inhibit the formation of amyloid protein. Researchers believe the findings to be very promising, and the study author even concludes that curcumin could potentially be a key molecule for the development of a treatment for Alzheimer's disease. Researchers suspect that amyloid protein may be the response of the brain to infection or inflammation. Turmeric's powerful therapeutic properties may potentially reduce inflammation or a viral infection.
