Application of the sponge at the site of the injury accelerates the natural clotting process and stops the flow of blood. The other component of the kit, the SWAT-T (Stretch Wrap And Tuck - Tactical) Tourniquet, is designed to deploy quickly and easily, fitting high into the groin or armpit areas to clamp down arterial blood flow and stop blood loss. Also included in the kit are antiseptic gloves, gauze, antiseptic wipes and medical tape. The entire kit is ten (10) ounces in weight and is intended to support a more general use first aid kit.
