New Study Suggests Curcumin May Prevent Fluoride From Damaging The Brain

(Medical-NewsWire.com, September 17, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- Fluoride can be found everywhere nowadays, from drinking water to toothpaste. Fluoride exposure is almost always inevitable among individuals who live in this modern world. What makes this even more alarming is that the substance is believed to be detrimental to brain health.

Curcumin is believed to prevent fluoride from damaging the brain. For decades, the neurotoxicity of fluoride has been the subject of many studies and debates. It is even believed to be used in the drinking water consumed by prisoners of the Russian and Nazi concentration camps for the purpose of lobotomizing captives.

"On the other hand, curcumin is an active ingredient of the medicinal spice called turmeric. It is popularized by the therapeutic benefits it can potentially offer," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan.

It is believed that fluoride has IQ lowering properties. Many countries around the world that are heavily using fluoride are working on some ways to reduce or eliminate the use of the substance. It is usually added to municipal drinking water.

The Pharmacognosy Magazine published a new study with a title "Curcumin attenuates neurotoxicity induced by fluoride: An in vivo evidence." This study reveals that fluoride is potentially a brain-damaging substance. It also finds that a natural spice-derived protective agent called curcumin has the ability to fight a variety of health effects associated with the use of the compound.

The researchers from the Department of Zoology, University College of Science, M.L. Sukhadia University, authored the study titled "Curcumin attenuates neurotoxicity induced by fluoride: An in vivo evidence". They have spent a decade trying to determine the ways that fluoride caused neurodegenerative changes in the brain. The presence of fluoride in water is believed to be a well-recognized global problem. According to reports, the use of fluoride is associated with adverse reproductive activities, cancers, neurological diseases, and cardiovascular diseases.

"Today, many people are using natural supplements such as curcumin to increase their immunity against a variety of conditions," added O'Sullivan.

Researchers found that the agent polyphenol, which is found in curcumin, is a neuroprotective substance. In previous research studies, it was found that curcumin has the ability to act as an antioxidant. Its antioxidant properties are believed to provide protection against singlet oxygen, hyrodxyl radicals, and superoxide radical damage. It was also found that curcumin has the ability to increase the production of endogenous glutathione in the brain, and this is considered to be a remarkable antioxidant defense system.

Consumers can take advantage of the therapeutic benefits of the natural ingredient by choosing the most trusted curcumin supplements available in the market today. Curcumin supplements with Bioperine, which is a black pepper extract and acts as a bioavailability enhancer, are believed to be more effective (http://amazon.com/Turmeric-Curcumin-Complex-BioPerine-Bio-availability/dp/B00JA4TLTI).
