It uses a hemostatic agent approved for use by the US Department of Defense, which triggers and accelerates the body's natural clotting action. The SWAT-T Tourniquet is used for arterial bleeding, and can be clamped high in the groin or armpit area to reduce or stop the flow of blood when a major artery is involved.
