The kit is an intended-use kit targeted at serious injuries where severe bleeding is involved. It is a compact kit, with active clotting agents, latex free nitrile gloves, gauze, tape and antiseptic wipes.

The clotting agent included in the kit is the QuikClot Advanced Clotting Sponge, a clotting sponge that uses a hemostatic (clotting) agent that is used and recommended by the US Armed Forces and the Department of Defense. This agent has been proven the best at stopping severe bleeding and reducing the impact of battlefield hemorrhaging. In the event of severe bleeding the QuikClot sponge is applied directly to the wound to promote fast clotting. This is an intended-use kit, meant specifically for this use. It is not a general purpose first aid kit. The kit is compact and designed to be kept on hand with a more general use kit. It comes in a durable nylon zipper bag, and is 8 inches by 1 inch by 5.5 inches and weighs 5 ounces.
