Drug Rehab Baltimore Calls for Rehab Bill Passed in Mass. for Consecutive Addiction Treatment

(Medical-NewsWire.com, October 26, 2015 ) Baltimore, MD -- A recent law passed in Mass. has caught the attention of Drug Rehab Baltimore, which is dedicated to treating both chronic drug and alcohol users. The law in question grants recovering patients the right for insurance companies to cover 14 consecutive days of inpatient rehabilitation treatment. Inpatient rehabilitation is recommended to treat chronic instances of addiction, and is scientifically proven to increase one's chances of recovery, yet insurance companies continually only offer coverage for outpatient rehabilitation, because inpatient treatment is more costly; as a result, many suffer from fatal overdoses that may have been prevented had the appropriate treatment been approved the first time around. Outpatient rehabilitation is to be completed after inpatient rehabilitation. According to the Charlotte Observer the law was sanctioned by Gov. Deval Patrick.

Drug Rehab Baltimore recommends similar laws to be passed throughout the United States to actively combat the opiate epidemic.

An associate comments, "Insurance companies prove themselves to be hurdles to recovery, as opposed to the resource they ought to be. Many companies do not grant inpatient treatment until patients have failed in outpatient treatment, sometimes multiple times. The fact that insurance companies have more say into the medical treatment of chronic drug and alcohol abusers is beyond us, considering insurance companies do not have a competent understanding of the intricacies of addiction. The nation should follow suite with Massachusetts and implement similar state laws. However, two weeks of inpatient rehabilitation isn't going to cut it. Patients are recommended to stay in inpatient treatment for 90 days at best, and 30 at the least."

Massachusetts is mobilizing its schools to detect substance abuse early on in highschool with school wide counseling and detection programs; the policy is not yet set in stone, but is projected to launch in the 2016-2017 school year.

Drug Rehab Baltimore specialized in individualized heroin rehab in Baltimore, and offers 24 hour medical and psychiatric support for patients during recovery. Addiction therapists help to outline comprehensive aftercare programs for patients who are completing drug and alcohol detox and rehab. The facility connects people in recovery with applicable sober living communities for continued recovery.
