Research Investigates The Effects Of The Weather On Joint Pain Among Arthritis Sufferers

(Medical-NewsWire.com, October 21, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- Joint pain causes a majority of arthritis sufferers to stay in bed or on the couch and not do their daily routines. There are even those who refuse to work or join social events because of the pain they are suffering from. Pain almost always happens anytime, but there are factors thought to trigger it.

Research investigates the effects of the weather on joint pain among arthritis sufferers. According to many individuals with arthritis, they could foresee the incoming weather just by the level of pain they are suffering from. While this is theoretical, scientists are investigating whether or not the weather has the potential to affect the levels of joint pain.

There is a widespread belief that the level of joint pain is indicative of the weather. Many arthritis sufferers from around the world even believe in it. Interestingly, there seems to be a scientific basis to this belief.

In the study conducted by the Turfs University, it was found that a reduction of weather temperature by 10 degrees could significantly worsen arthritis pain. The researchers further added that arthritis pain seemed to increase at a very low barometric pressure and precipitation.

Presently, research has not established the reason yet why this happens. However, they suspect that pain increases together with the swelling of the joint capsule, which is triggered by certain atmospheric conditions. In a small two-year study conducted by the Dutch researchers, it was revealed that the aches and pain suffered by the participants worsened at the increase of the barometric pressure and humidity.

In the study conducted by the Erasmus University Medical Center Rotterdam, it was revealed that more than 60 percent of the participants with osteoarthritis believed in the link between their pain and the weather. Specifically, they believed that the rain, temperature, and barometric pressure negatively affect their pain and stiffness.

Experts believe that sufferers should be mindful about the changes in their body and pain. While studies are still underway to understand pain more, healthcare providers recommend that sufferers should resort to measures to reduce pain and improve their mobility.

The use of natural supplements is one of the popular remedies in combating arthritis pain and inflammation. There are many supplements available today, and one is glucosamine. This therapeutic ingredient is naturally produced by the human body.

Most of the best supplements do not only contain glucosamine, but also other therapeutic ingredients such as Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM). MSM is believed to be effective in fighting pain and inflammation (http://www.amazon.com/Glucosamine-Sulfate-Supplement-2000mg-serving/dp/B0126ZF0B0).
