Miguel has a firm belief that serving others is what makes people and companies worthy and is happy to share his experience so far and the reason for helping that particular nonprofit organization.
Since age 10, Miguel (now 23 years old) started to develop shortsightedness to a degree in which he needed to wear his glasses all the time; and although this might seem like a minor issue for several people, he states that the fact that the first thing he needed to do when he woke up was look for his glasses, represented a situation where life quality wasn't being as high as any human being deserves. But recently, Miguel had the opportunity to get laser eye surgery and he emotionally shared that it was the best gift his parents could have given him. This became a turning point in Miguel's life in which he now empathized with people who suffered from any kind of vision problem and was now a powerful reason that pushed him to start making monthly donations to "Destellos de Luz", a Mexican organization that operates in Monterrey, Miguel's hometown.
Destellos de Luz is a private nonprofit organization that provides medical care to low income people who have a visual impairment, with the main purpose of preventing blindness; additionally, it offers educational programs for blind people focused on their professional development and self sufficiency. Miguel researched about the charity and felt the immediate desire to help this particular group, and in January, he committed himself to donating in a monthly basis. Although the amount of money he's able to contribute with now is symbolic, he shares that the fact of just doing it motivates him to continue fighting for this cause and has now placed on its personal goals, together with Marrgon's, to increase the amount they can set apart monthly for Destellos de Luz. Finally, Miguel commented that there's no better place to be in than in the position where he believes he is, where he's trying to make his small business grow by serving a bigger number of people, which at the same time will allow him to serve even more people through growing his monthly input to the organization.
