Medihealth 1 Releases Information On How To Break The Head Lice Cycle

The Nitz Blitz Lice Comb

(Medical-NewsWire.com, February 26, 2016 ) Melbourne, Victoria -- Just to give an explanation on what a louse looks like, its a wingless insect, about the size of a sesame seed. They can live on your head, feeding off blood under the scalp. Head lice eggs are called nits, and are white in colour, oval shaped, pin-head sized eggs that attach to the hair and hatch six to ten days after being laid, making head lice infestation an ongoing problem. Head lice cannot fly or jump; they can spread via head to head contact or sharing hats and brushes that have come in contact with an infestation.

Six to 12 million children in the U.S. become infected with head lice each year, and just as many tears are shed by kids and adults trying to get rid of them. Prescription insecticides can be toxic and seem these days are no longer favoured by parents, and over the counter treatments are hit and miss. The end result is Frustration.

There are all manner of head lice formulations and shampoos on the market, as well as electric combs, nit combs and so-called "natural" treatments which can still contain chemicals.

The most effective treatment recommended by James Cook University and Westmead Hospital is the conditioner and comb treatment. Medihealth 1 managing director Wally Jackson stated that "using their Nitz Blitz twin grooved comb, with an approved hair conditioner, then combing the conditioner through an infestation and dunking all lice and eggs in hot water to kill them, is the most effective way"

No head lice product or insecticide currently kills all eggs, but the twin grooves on each of the thirty three stainless steel teeth on the Nitz Blitz comb, will pick these nits up very easily from an infested head, In all head lice cases, a second treatment may be needed as no head lice treatment kills 100% of the eggs. So if the first treatment caught all climbers, at the second treatment one would expect only juveniles, hatched from eggs during the seven day period, and no adults. Then repeat on day 7 with the same procedure that was used in the first treatment.
