(EMAILWIRE.COM, November 17, 2011 ) Shoreview, MN -- To better understand passengers’ exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke in vehicles, Dr. James Cant of the British Lung Foundation placed a TSI SIDEPAK™ AM510 in the vehicle’s back seat while the driver smoked a cigarette and drove the vehicle. During the short drive, which only lasted a few minutes, the SIDEPAK AM510 displayed increased mass concentration levels of PM2.5, which is consistent with and indicative of exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke. The British Lung Foundation, along with several other advocacy groups, plans to use the study in in their campaign to ban smoking in cars throughout the UK.
