Baterna Farms Grows MoringaTrees That Are Good for Breastfeeding, Diabetes, and Cancer

(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 14, 2012 ) Homestead, Florida -- The Moringa Tree is widely cultivated in Southeast Asia and Africa as a good source of nutrients. Tall seed pods cultivate from the flowers of Moringa tree, giving it an appearance of a drumstick. The leaves of Moringa are seen in a few super food recipes due to its high potassium and calcium content. The leaf tea is used particularly by midwives to induce breast milk production among lactating moms. As stated in the Agriculture Business Week news article, the leaves of Moringa has been advertised WHO for years as an affordable health enhancer for deprived countries. In the US, Moringa leaf was recognized for its high vitamins, iron, and HDL cholesterol contents. The tree has been proven to have anti-bacterial properties, and as a method to enhance glucose tolerance in animal subjects. The roots and barks has been clinically demonstrated to be efficient in treating post-menopausal ovarian cancer, but must not be used by women of childbearing age.

Tincture of Moringa leaves kill a few strains of bacteria

There is a potential for both water and alcohol based Moringa leaf tinctures to combat several strains of bacteria, based to the 2011 clinical study published in the Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine. In this investigation, experts soaked paper discs with more strength of leaf extracts. While the tinctures are not effective against Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Salmonella enteritidis, Moringa Oleifera was highly effective against Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Aeromonascavaie.

Leaves of Moringa enhances glucose tolerance among experimental animals

In an investigation conducted at Tokyo University of Agriculture, Moringa was given to rats with diabetes for them to identify the effects of Moringa leaf powder on glucose tolerance. The investigators documented high levels of polyphenols in Moringa, particularly quercitin and rutin. After taking Moringa powder, the experimental animals revealed a significant reduction in their blood glucose levels as compared to the control class during a glucose tolerance test. Quercitin is responsible for such effect.

Moringa roots and barks shows some activity against ovarian cancer cells

Moringa roots and barks contain unique phytochemicals that is effective against post-menopausal epithelial ovarian cancer, as stated in Medscape General Medicine. This kind of cancer is caused by a mixture of failing ovaries and a hyper functioning pituitary gland. The only plant which has been clinically established to have a good effect on female reproductive system cancer is MoringaOleifera Lam, because it has both female hormonal and anti-tumor properties.

Moringa roots and barks must not be taken by women during their reproductive years, especially those who are pregnant, since it can cause abortion. The herb chemicals in Moringa root causes the fertilized egg not to be able to adhere to the lining of the uterine wall. Traditional literature specifies that Moringa roots were used as a permanent type of birth control. Moringa roots and barks can cause fierce and possibly lethal uterine contractions. But, Moringa leaves are delightful herbs to promote milk production among lactating mothers.
