Gadolinium MRI Contrast Agent Information Center Released by Morgan & Morgan

(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 05, 2009 ) Orlando, FL - The lawyers at Morgan & Morgan (ForThePeople.com) are currently investigating cases of Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF) in patients who were injected with a gadolinium contrast agent for an MRI or MRA. A new gadolinium information center has been created on their website to help educate consumers about the risks posed by gadolinium contrast agents for individuals with kidney problems.

Gadolinium is a chemical element that is often used in MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), MRA (Magnetic Resonance Angiogram), X-Ray, and other imaging technology as as a contrast agent to enhance the quality of the image. In 2007, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued its strongest warning (the Black Box Warning) for MRI/MRA contrast agents that contain Gadolinium because it has been linked to a potentially fatal disease in patients with existing kidney conditions.

Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis (NSF), also called Nephrogenic Fibrosing Dermopathy (NFD), is a potentially life threatening disease for which there is no consistently effective treatment. NSF is a systemic condition in which excessive connective tissue forms in the skin and internal organs. Symptoms of NSF/NFD include swelling, thickening and hardening skin in the extremities and occasionally in the torso/trunk area, as well as muscle weakness, hardening of internal organs, and reddened or darkened skin patches. Nearly all cases of Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis can be directly attributed to gadolinium injections in patients with advanced or end-stage kidney disease.

Morgan & MorganÂ’s gadolinium information center features detailed information about gadolinium and NSF. Frequently asked questions about gadolinium, gadolinium side effects, information about gadolinium brand names and FDA warnings, MRI injection lawsuits, and more are available on the site. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with NSF after being injected with a gadolinium based contrast agent, it is important to be aware of your legal rights. Visit http://www.forthepeople.com/Gadolinium_Warning.htm to learn more. Morgan & MorganÂ’s gadolinium lawyers offer a free legal case evaluation for NSF victims throughout the United States.
