Internet Hearing Aid Retailer Offers Line of Affordable Melody Open Fit Hearing Aids

(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 20, 2009 ) Hearing Central LLC, an American manufacturer and Internet retailer of digital hearing aids, has released a new line of Melody open fit hearing aids. The line features digital behind-the-ear (BTE) technology. The three models--A1, A2, and A3--retail online for up to thousands less than similar BTE models. The Melody open fit hearing aids are designed to offer an affordable solution to budget-conscious consumers otherwise hesitant to invest in hearing aids in the current economy.

“Too many people who would benefit from the use of a hearing aid don't purchase one because of the cost,” says Phil Wyatt, CEO of Hearing Central LLC. “The current economic situation doesn't help. People are losing their jobs, and with that their health insurance. An overall higher out-of-pocket expense for medical care is making many hearing aids unaffordable to those who need them. By serving as both manufacturer and seller of hearing aids, we're able to make them more affordable--customers can save hundreds or thousands of dollars while receiving the same quality hearing aids they would find elsewhere."

Hearing Central offers three Melody open fit hearing aid models to address different levels of hearing loss:

Melody A1 – The A1 model is ideal for individuals with moderate hearing loss in the 40 - 70dB range. This two-channel hearing aid offers two amplification settings--one for normal listening and one for restaurants or other noisy places. Melody A1 is 100 percent digital. It features a single uni-directional microphone and an on/off switch built into the battery door to conserve battery life when not in use. It sells for $495.

Melody A2 – This hearing aid is designed for people with moderate to severe hearing loss in the 50 - 90dB range. A step up from the Melody A1, these are four-channel hearing aids with four amplification settings. In addition to the two amplification settings of the previous model, the A2 also contains two additional settings: one for telephone conversations and the other for watching television. It also features an enhanced omni-directional microphone, amplifying sounds in the direction the user's head is facing. This model is also completely digital and offers an on/off switch in the battery door. It sells for $695.

Melody A3 – The more advanced Melody A3 hearing aids offer all of the features and functionality of the A1 and A2 models, but with several improvements. Tailored for users with severe hearing loss in the 60 - 110dB range, the A3 is another four-channel model--this time with better background noise filtering and two adaptive directional microphones offering a stereo effect. The A3 sells for $895.

In addition to their Melody open fit models, Hearing Central also offers three in-the-canal digi-Ear hearing aids with prices ranging from $295 to $695. The company ships its discount hearing aids worldwide, and they will custom program hearing aids at no extra charge when an audiogram is provided.
