Renowned Oncologist Louise Morrell, MD to speak at unprecedented Run/Walk for Sharsheret, Hosted by the Boca Raton Synagogue Sisterhood

Prizes will be awarded to division winners as well as the top 3 male and female winners. Proceeds from the First Annual Run/Walk for Sharsheret will benefit Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit organization supporting Jewish women and families facing breast cancer.

About Louise Morrell , MD

Dr. Louise Morrell was named Medical Director for the Center for Breast Care at the WomenÂ’s Center at Boca Raton Community Hospital in 1995. As Medical Director, she oversees comprehensive clinical care services and leads the tumor board. She established the Breast Cancer Multimodality Clinic, which offers women newly diagnosed with breast cancer multiple subspecialty consultations in a single visit to the hospitalÂ’s Christine E. Lynn Cancer Institute.

Dr. Morrell also performs genetic testing, identifying individuals at the highest risk for breast and ovarian cancer. She provides an ongoing prevention program for all patients that are determined to be in a high-risk category. She currently serves as the hospital’s lead investigator for Total Cancer Care™, an innovative cancer research program to develop new drug therapies personalized for each patient. The hospital is the first facility in Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties to participate in the study, a collaborative effort with the Moffitt Cancer Center, Merck & Co., and the state of Florida.

Dr. Morrell is a board certified medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer care. She graduated from Washington University School of Medicine and completed her fellowship training at Barnes Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. In 1989, she joined the full-time clinical faculty at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami where she helped to establish the clinical breast cancer program and participated in research in Stem Cell Transplantation and Locally Advanced Breast Cancer.
