Florida Heart Group Announces Opening of New Peripheral Intervention Lab

(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 10, 2012 ) Orlando, FL -- Florida Heart Group, a Florida cardiology practice, is doing everything it can to make health care more accessible for people worldwide. In order to assist with this cause, on January 20th Florida Heart Group opened its new Peripheral Intervention Lab.

The lab features some of the latest advancements in medical technology, including a GE3100 camera, which allows the practice to perform complex peripheral interventions in an outpatient setting.

Not only is the new lab designed to give patients the most comfortable possible experience, but it also substantially reduces the cost for the same procedures provided in hospitals.

While medical care is necessary for preventing heart attacks, Florida Heart Group has several recommendations easy enough for anyone to implement in their personal lives. Florida specialists have a few suggestions for people willing to make changes

Eat foods rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber
Regulate cholesterol levels by taking medication
Keep a blood pressure of 120/80 or lower
Get at least 10 minutes of exercise each day, but preferably at least 30 minutes
Maintain a healthy body weight
Keep stress levels as low as possible

Florida Heart Group emphasizes the importance of physical activity. “Because so many Americans work in sedentary jobs behind computers and desks for more than eight hours a day, it’s important for them to be allowed to engage in physical activity like walking during the day,” says Andrew Laverghetta, the Florida cardiology practice’s CEO.

There are many heart disease causes, and most are preventable. Florida Heart GroupÂ’s cardiology physicians strongly encourage anyone who has any doubt about his or her vascular health to come in for a preventative screening.

Unfortunately, some causes are not preventable. A womanÂ’s gender, for example, makes it more likely she will experience a heart attack than a man. Being of Hispanic or African American origin also makes heart disease more likely.

Heart attack warning signs include an irregular heartbeat, an unusually high level of fatigue, and unusual chest discomfort during physical activity. Florida Heart GroupÂ’s cardiology physicians would like to remind anyone experiencing these symptoms to see a cardiologist immediately.

ABOUT FLORIDA HEART GROUP: Since its founding in 1979, Florida Heart Group has grown into a local leader in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The practice boasts over 19 Orlando cardiologists and numerous Orlando cardiology specializations including Peripheral Vascular, Interventional Cardiology, WomenÂ’s Heart Disease, Heart Failure, Arrhythmia, Adult Congenital Heart Disease, and Diagnostic Imaging. The practice can be followed on Facebook and Twitter and on their Orlando heart blog.
