(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 29, 2012 ) New York, NY -- Gary Moore, rock guitarist for the Irish band, Thin Lizzy, passed away early in February. Tests completed recently have found that 380 mg of alcohol per deciliter was found in the rockerÂ’s blood system. 80 mg of alcohol per deciliter of blood is considered the legal limit for driving in the UK. The official cause of death has been given as a heart attack due to excessive alcohol consumption.
“Teens and young adults have to get the message about alcohol,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center. “The continuing deaths of celebrities that involve either drugs or alcohol, or a combination of both, should cause a huge red flag to go up when young adults or teens consider using. We all mourn the loss of this rock icon, which sadly and frighteningly drives home the dangers of substance use.”
Experts have stated that the amount of alcohol contained within his system would normally cause one to go into a coma. In this case, it caused his body to shut down, and he had a massive heart attack. No illegal drugs were found to be in his system.
