This grassroots effort, deemed “Operation Toys for Troops,” is a one-time, charity drive to purchase and collect toys for our troops to distribute to the Iraqi youth. For every $5,000 Operation Toys for Troops collects, around 800 stuffed animals and 500 soccer balls can be purchased. The drive will run through August 15th, and donations will be accepted online via PayPal or credit card at the Operation Toys for Troops website, www.toysfortroops.org or directly to the Wilson Companies headquarters; 1250 Butterfield Drive, Troy, MI 48084.“Iraqi children have so much to worry about and so little to do that receiving a soccer ball or stuffed animal from a soldier can go a long way in changing the way they perceive American soldiers,” Carol Ewing, radiothon coordinator for WWJ, said. “The friendships that ensue from these relationships are so valuable, they can actually save American lives,” Sgt.
