(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 03, 2012 ) Scottsdale Arizona : Ultra-distance cyclist Ann had just finished a 750 mile race in France when she began to experience some inexplicable and downright frightening psychological issues. She had ADHD for some time and while she did notice those symptoms worsening, she knew this was something different.
“I was experiencing facial spasms,” Ann explains, “As well as blurred vision, unrelenting insomnia, and what I would describe as a debilitating inability to clearly articulate. To put it mildly I was really concerned.”
She continues, “Because of my compromised mental state, my training and endurance began to suffer. Before my symptoms I had been training more than 60 hours a week. By 2006 I could barely get in a measly 30 minutes per day – hardly the requisite training for the competitive sport I so deeply loved.”
Ann’s mental state continued to decline, in part, because of the frustration that accompanied myriad medical tests and no concrete answers. “I had nothing to go on and was convinced it was a byproduct of aging,” she remembers. “But nobody else I knew was having the trouble that I was.”
Fortunately for Ann, a friend suggested Envita.
Ann recalls, “I met with Envita’s doctors and they were able to quickly identify that I was suffering with Lyme disease Complex. They were so well-versed in the disease; they began to educate me immediately. Despite the fact that I had just found out that I had this debilitating disease, having understanding actually gave me a bit of relief. For the first time I knew that something could be done and I was around a medical team who knew what that was. Envita was quick to design a personalized treatment plan to help me overcome my chronic Lyme disease and provided me all the additional tools I needed to help me stay well.”
Nevertheless, 2011 proved stressful for Ann at the beginning, but, “Because of what I was taught at Envita, and the care that I was given, I was able to get well and maintain without any relapse to speak of,” the athlete says.
Currently, Ann is feeling better than she has in years. The competitor continues to hike up Aspen Mountain three times a week, ski race, mountain bike, and is back on her distance bike ready for her first major competition in years, this summer. Many people suffer with Chronic Lyme disease they just may not be aware of it.
