The purpose of this recently initiated program is to establish a baseline for possible symptoms of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in soldiers before they enter combat. The program is a part of a larger effort by the U.S. military to increase the Army’s ability to properly diagnose any traumatic brain injuries in its soldiers, which have come to be called the signature injury of the Iraq war.
