Southwestern College explores Perspectives on Systems, Trauma and Resilience during their annual Transformation and Healing Conference.

(Medical-NewsWire.com, August 10, 2012 ) SANTA FE, NM -- Now in its 31st year, the Southwestern College 'Transformation and Healing Conference' has long been a source of continued learning for counselors and art therapy professionals. Featuring a variety of workshops, classes and presentations this year will be no different.



The theme for this year’s conference is "Through the Looking Glass: Perspectives on Systems, Trauma and Resilience". Focused on the understanding that both healing and trauma can result from the internal and external systems of humans, the conference will explore an array of methods of working with family, internalized and cultural systems to maximize understanding and healing of these systems in patients.



Southwestern College’s Conference starts on August 22nd with three days of classes and workshops designed to teach methods of using the history, cultural influences and internal systems for healing. Art-based therapy, brainspotting and other techniques will be discussed to help professionals to treat patients in a variety of ways.



The Conference will close with two days of Keynote Addresses on the 25th and the 26th. The first presenter will be Dr. Richard Schwartz, who will be speaking on the topic of "The Treatment of Trauma and the Internal Family Systems Model". This presentation will explore the concepts of how parts within the self are connected and how the knowledge can be used for healing.



The second Keynote Address will take place on the 26th of August and will be made by Lee Cartwright, M.A. Mr. Cartwright will expand on the theories of William E. Gray, and will discuss the means of healing the rifts between the concurrent universes that humans live in with the intention to provide means of treating a variety of traumas.



All classes, workshops and Keynote Addresses are available for Continuing Education Credits (CEC’s). Attendees will earn 3 CEC’s for each Wednesday through Friday class, and 3 CEC’s for the Sunday Keynote. Those attending the Saturday Keynote are eligible for 7 CEC’s.
